H5P: Use the Accordion content type of present long texts

The H5P plugin available in Moodle enables you to create a diverse  range of different task types.  You can use it to create, for example, interactive videos, quizzes or other materials. This tip focuses on the Accordion task type.

The Accordion is a way to reduce the amount of text presented to readers. The clickable headings expand and collapse to easily reveal and hide additional content.

What do I need?

You need a Moodle course page and idea for an Accordion task.

What do I need to do?
  1. Navigate to your Moodle course page and turn editing on. Under Add an activity or resource, select H5P interactive content.
  2. You will see a list of all the H5P task types. Select Accordion.
  3. Type a heading for your new activity (it will be displayed to students on the course page). Under Panels, type the subheadings and enter the related texts. You can add more panels (=subheadings) by clicking the button below.
  4. Click Save.

Example:

The H5P logo and the task you named will appear on the front page of your Moodle course page.

Students will initially see only the subheadings but can click on the headings to toggle between hiding and showing content.  (The first theme is expanded in the image)

Did you know you can copy your H5P tasks to a different course page? This means you will not have to recreate the tasks when you update your course page for the next academic year.
