TAMK has been teaching aeronautical engineering for decades. This forms a strong foundation for education and research of unmanned aviation. We work with a number of companies and public actors.
We have developed a training for professional use of drones. This is applied in teaching, various projects, employment promoting and as a service. The training begins from rules and regulations, progresses through the photographic use of small drones to professional quadcopters, which are used, for example, in thermal and multispectral imaging. Training can be continued with fixed-wing drones, where we specialize in simulator training and flight task automation.
Drones are also strongly integrated into our degree programmes: each year more than 300 students learn the basics of drone theory, more than 150 students use aircraft on the ground, and 50 students complete a remote pilot qualification. Application areas include the built environment, forestry, and medical care.
