Doctoral Researcher Heidi Lehtovaara’s research focuses on the barriers and opportunities faced by immigrant women in their job search. Heidi is also involved in a project examining equitable recruitment practices. She has years of experience as a project manager in development programs focused on the employment of immigrant women and as a supervisor in the Helsinki City Employment Services. Heidi’s other strengths include expertise in equality and non-discrimination themes, as well as strong communication skills.
Doctor of Philosophy Sami Koivunen’s research field is human-computer interaction. Sami has studied the digitalization of recruitment from the perspective of recruitment professionals, mapping the ethical challenges associated with the use of digital tools. His has also explored the use of chatbots in recruitment and the recruitment of international talent supported by digital tools.
Postdoctoral Researcher Matti Laukkarinen’s recent doctoral dissertation research demonstrates how emerging technologies (algorithmic decision-making, social media platforms) are reshaping job seeking and recruitment practices. Before his academic career, Matti worked in construction and energy industry organizations, as well as in market research. Matti’s areas of expertise include the impact of new technologies on the labor market and the ethical dimensions of algorithmic decision-making.
