Priority will be given to students who have a research plan for a research project that is suitable to be used as research material for the doctoral degree.
Doctoral students complete classroom studies and finalize their research plan in Finland during their first year. After that students have the option of working on their PhD project in Finland or abroad. Completion of a doctoral degree usually requires 3-4 additional years of research work.
The programme requires a 10 month (August – May) residence in Tampere, Finland, to complete their coursework. After the research work and completion of research articles the students will have the Doctoral defense in Tampere.
The IPPE -programme does not provide funding. All students must be able to support themselves during their stay in Finland for 10 months. The Finnish immigration service requires an income of 1 090 euros per month for a residence permit.
