Community Work and Multicultural Development, Pre-task Spring 2024

The application period opens on 7 Dec 2023 (8 am Finnish time GMT+2) and closes on 17 Jan 2024 (3 pm Finnish time GMT+2). The pre-task has to be uploaded to the application by the end of the application period: 17 Jan 2024 (3 pm Finnish time GMT+2) at the latest.

Pre-task instructions

The pre-task must be attached to your application at studyinfo.fi in PDF format by the end of the application period. Name the document: last name_first name_pre-task.pdf

The pre-task will be used to determine which applicants are invited to an interview.


1) PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMITMENT (30 points)

The applicant is required to write a short reflective essay in English. The applicant’s name must be clearly visible on each page of the essay document. The essay should be submitted in a pdf-format. The length of the essay is maximum of 5 000 characters.

Instruction for the writing:

  • Write your personal career and educational background story. Shortly share your history towards this study programme.
  • What are your goals for professional development and personal growth related to the Master’s degree? Mention at least three (3) goals and give reasons for your choice.
  • What are the main reasons why you want to complete the Master´s degree? Describe your future plans related to the degree.

The evaluation criteria for the essay are:

  • All the given questions have been answered and the instructions are followed carefully including the character count. The candidate can identify and justify issues relevant to their context.
  • With the pre-task, the candidate demonstrates academic writing skills to study in an international Master’s level programme.
  • The candidate shows capability for critical thinking, self-evaluation and motivation for developing themselves.
  • Please note that the essay can be checked for plagiarism.
