We are happy and excited to tell you about our participation in the Pedaforum 2025, Higher Education Pedagogy Days, which were held this year in Helsinki at Metropolia’s Myllypuro campus. In addition to the diverse and topical presentations, we were honored to give our own presentation on the multidisciplinary SOTEKONE hackathon, which we organized at TAMK earlier this year.
Our presentation focused on how hackathons can serve as an effective learning method that combines different fields of expertise and encourages students to collaborate, be creative, and solve problems. The SOTEKONE hackathon was a success, and students had the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary manner, develop innovative solutions, and learn important skills such as teamwork and project management.
The Pedaforum 2025 event was full of inspiring speeches, workshops, and networking opportunities. It was great to see teachers and education professionals from all over Finland come together to share ideas and experiences related to higher education pedagogy. The presentations at the event were divided into various themes dealing with higher education pedagogy, from which we chose generative artificial intelligence in higher education. The presentations raised the idea of whether we should already see beyond the challenges, threats and user training of artificial intelligence and start delving into how its creative use is integrated into higher education in a controlled manner. It was especially inspiring to hear about the positive experiences of other participants, the current challenges they identified, and to receive feedback on our presentation.
We are very grateful for the opportunity to participate in this event and share our hackathon experience. We hope that our presentation will inspire other teachers to try out multidisciplinary learning opportunities in their own schools and see how they can enrich learning and inspire students.
