With a multidisciplinary student team, we organized the Hehke – Hetki Hehkua music and performing arts event on October 14, 2025, at Tavara-asema in Tampere. Accessibility was especially important to us. The event was sensory-friendly, meaning that bright lights and loud sounds were excluded, and we carefully considered physical accessibility.
We wanted to create a space at the event where visitors could relax and unwind between performances. We got the idea to utilize wellness technology devices provided by TAMK’s Sote Virtual Lab to create a relaxation area.
The following devices were available at the event:
- Somnox sleep robots, which support calming down ones breathing
- A vibroacoustic beanbag chair, offering a deeply relaxing experience
- Broomx MK360 Player immersive projector, which created a visually soothing environment
The project team included students from TAMK’s VETO program (Mikko Juvonen, Iina Marila, Martta Romo, Riika Toiviainen), from Proakatemia (Milla Mikkonen, Ron Efrati), and a textile engineer (Oona Kuusisto).
The relaxation space turned out to be a success. Some visitors became so relaxed that they even fell asleep for a short nap in the vibroacoustic beanbag chair.
