Become a music professional in an inspiring and versatile learning environment at TAMK Music
TAMK Music educates Bachelors of Culture and Arts and Masters of Culture and Arts in its degree programmes. Excellent teachers, interdisciplinary studies and close working life connections provide excellent foundations for a professional career in music.
TAMK Music provides studies in all orchestral and many other instruments, including singing and choir or orchestra conducting as a major.
Finland is known for its top level pedagogical education. In TAMK Music you can choose pedagogical studies in English and have Finnish teacher education studies as part of your degree.
Moving into a State-of-the-Art Building in 2026
In 2026 TAMK Music is moving into a modern new building in the campus area with spacious classrooms, a concert hall for chamber music as well as the Black Box for music theatre education and performances. All the classrooms and facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Networking in working life
Through the Orchestra Academy, TAMK cooperates with Tampere Conservatoire, the Tampere Philharmonia and the Finnish Defense Forces. The goal of the Orchestra Academy is to promote the students’ professional skills in orchestral playing and to improve their employment opportunities after graduation. In addition, cooperation with several professional choirs gives an excellent perspective for professional choral activities.
TAMK Chamber, TAMK Opera, TAMK Musical Theatre and TAMK Modern actively produce their own productions. Every year there are around 50 concerts produced by TAMK Music. In addition, there are also opera and musical productions, workshops, masterclasses and several other activities to participate in. In TAMK, the students get to collaborate with plenty of organisations, institutions, and other higher music education providers in different productions.
With the help of our teacher trainee programme, music pedagogy students can get to know practical teaching work already during their studies.
From tuba to trumpet, harp to accordion
At TAMK, you get high-level instruction not only on the most common instruments, but also on rarer instruments, e.g. clarinet, oboe, bassoon, French horn, double bass, saxophone, trumpet, tuba, accordion, percussion.
TAMK Music’s students perform throughout the year at several different occasions and events. Our performer bank is intended for the program needs of companies and individuals, and there you can order a performer for parties as well as other occasions.
