We are happy to invite you to a lecture by Prof. Dieter Meschede on Tuesday, June 20, from 14:15-15:45 in TB109. Our speaker is a highly distinguished physicist, optics textbook author, former president of the German Physical Society (DPG), and professor emeritus of the quantum technologies group at the University of Bonn. His lecture is divided into two parts:1. Why and how does optics shape the physical sciences today?2. Controlling single atomic particles with lightFollowing the lecture, students and researchers will have the opportunity to ask their personal questions in a discussion session that will begin at 16:00 in SL401. The discussions will not only focus on research, but may also cover topics such as career development, research management, and textbook publishing.
