Badge management models in TAMK projects

This page presents badge management models created during projects involving Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK).

EduSTA – Academy for Sustainable Future Educators (1.6.2022–31.7.2025)

The EduSTA project (Erasmus+ Teacher Academies) brought together five European teacher education institutions to design and pilot badges for teachers to demonstrate sustainability expertise. The project produced the first comprehensive description of teachers’ sustainability competences, including assessment criteria directly linked to everyday teaching practice. These badges are closely aligned with GreenComp, the European reference framework for sustainability competences.

The badge constellation is called “Sustainable Future Educator.” The badges cover the four Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) competence areas: Sustainability Literacy, Learning Ecosystem Design, Enabling Action and Reflexive Praxis Competence. Each competence area consists of one or more micro-badges. When educators earn a specified number of micro-badges, they qualify for the meta-badge “Sustainable Future Educator.” All badges are described in detail on the project website: Finnish pilots.
