These days a range of events are delivered virtually. One of the options is to organise events using Zoom. You can set up a Zoom meeting in advance using either the Zoom website or the Zoom app. This tip guides you through the creation of an online meeting using the Zoom website.
What do I need?
You need a computer equipped with a microphone and a camera. You do not have to turn on video during the actual meeting.
What do I need to do?
- Go to tuni.zoom.us.
- Select Sign in and sign in with your TUNI username and password.
- Select Schedule a meeting.
- Type the topic of your meeting in the Topic field.
- Under Meeting Options, you can decide, for example, whether participants will be required to sign in before they can join your meeting.
- Share the link to your Zoom meeting with the attendees. To copy the link, click Copy the invitation. Alternatively, you can send the participants the URL address shown in the Join URL field. For mobile users, the most convenient option to join your meeting may be to enter the Meeting ID.
During a Zoom meeting
- Turn on your audio and video by clicking on the icons on the lower left corner.
- Test your audio settings: Test Speaker & Microphone.
- Other settings: Please note! The Zoom menu bar appears at the bottom of the Zoom window once your meeting begins. If you cannot see it, move your mouse slightly and the bar will appear.
- Manage Participants: display the list of participants and, for example, change the host or mute the microphones of the other participants.
- Polls: create polling questions for your participants.
- Share: share your screen or a virtual whiteboard. When you share your screen, a bar displaying the in-meeting controls will appear on top of the screen.
- Chat: chat with the participants in real-time.
- Record: record your meeting. The video, shared screen, whiteboard and audio will be recorded.
- End Meeting: end your meeting (if you are the host you can end the meeting for all the participants).
