Facilitator’s role
TAMK’s Self-Hack is implemented as a workshop and new students work in degree programme specific groups during the day. Every small group needs a facilitator who has participated in the Self-Hack and facilitator training.
Facilitators’ most important task is to support and help the small group in working on the materials, team building and creating a nice atmosphere. It does not matter if you do not have any prior guidance or facilitation experience. It is the most important that you are motivated and eager to help new students during the event. Facilitators need to be responsible and committed to the facilitator’s role.
Facilitators enable group activities – support the group and individuals and take the work smoothly forward. Facilitators take care that the group follows the timetable and has enough breaks. Facilitators’ key task is to make sure that the workshop is safe and scheduled.
During the Self-Hack, all students focus on their lives contents and objectives. All participants are stars of the day and experts of their life. As a facilitator, you do not give direct answers to what participants should do but listen, ask questions and support.
What do facilitators gain?
- You learn the Self-Hack method and pedagogical skills
- You have tools for planning your future and design thinking
- You have a certificate, which you can add to your CV
- You gain valuable experience and training on facilitation and guidance
- You gain the facilitator’s overall badge
- You learn to know new students in a completely new way.
As facilitators, you and participants are the most important persons of the day. The event would not be possible without your support. Join us and gain valuable experience.
