Self-Hack Day

At TAMK, Self-Hack is a part of the orientation week.

At the end of the Self-Hack day, you have a sketch about what you want to achieve during your studies and where you are heading. In practice, the event consists of diverse workbook exercises which are done independently and in small groups.

The exercises help you to see what your life consists of, what challenges you have, what strengths and resources you have for the new life phase and what objectives you want to set for your study time based on the above-mentioned. The event supports creation of a balanced and meaningful life.

Self-Hack day’s timetable:

  • 10:00–10:30 Event presentation, introduction of participants
  • 10:30–11:15 Empathising: familiarisation with group members, interviews
  • 11:15–12:00 Definition: definition of life sectors, challenges
  • 12:00–12:30 Lunch break
  • 12:30–13:45 Ideation: consideration of personal life story, values, strengths and interests
  • 13:45–14:30 Prototyping: alternative life stories, personal objectives and a personal roadmap
  • 14:30–15:00 Testing: sharing of personal ideas, summary, feedback

Participation in Self-Hack doesn’t really require any preparations but you should bring a pen and paper or your computer with you. You can choose which you would like to use to do the exercises with.  More information about your Self-Hack Day will be provided by your orientation schedule or your group’s tutors and teacher.
