Essay
- 3 extra credits (5 credits in total for the course)
- Before you start writing, agree on an essay topic with Anne (most of you already have). Basic idea is enough, no need to know the details at that stage. All topics related to the lectures are welcome.
- Length: 7-10 pages, font size 12, line spacing 1
- You may include images in the essay if relevant BUT your essay needs to be at least seven pages long in text, excluding the images. Introduce the image source in the caption of the image.
- Cite additional literature
- The extra credits require a bit of additional reading. For this reason, you need to cite 3-5 academic articles in your essay, either the ones listed in Moodle or other.
- If you want, feel free to cite non-academic sources as well, if relevant for your topic.
- Cite your sources! No particular referencing system (MLA, APA, Harvard, etc.) required, feel free to use one that you are familiar with.
- If you have never cited literature in your essays/reports before, a basic overview of the principles can be found e.g. here or here (the latter is in Finnish)
- Essay deadline: Jan 15, 2020. If you need the credits sooner, negotiate an earlier deadline.
- Please note that I can only register the course credits for you once (I can’t give you 2 credits first and then add 3 later). Therefore, I won’t register the basic course credits in December for those who are working on an essay to be submitted in January. If you eventually decide not to hand in the essay, let me know and I’ll register the 2 credits (provided you’ve done the corresponding assignment, of course).
