The Sote Virtual Lab team's year-long planning culminated in eHealth conference

TAMK and its staff were strongly involved in the international eHealth 2024 conference in Tampere on 14-15 November 2024.

TAMK was represented on a broad front at the conference. Jaana Vainionpää and Kirsi Mansikkamäki from the Sote Virtual Lab were part of the organizing committee. Kirsi Mansikkamäki and Lea Saarni evaluated the abstracts sent to the conference. TAMK was also represented in the poster presentations and in the conference speakers. YAMK students were part of the organizing committee as conference assistants. The conference assistants’ task was to take care of, among other things, communication and the fluency of the sessions.

TAMK Sote Virtual Lab participated in the conference Gallery Walk as one of the exhibitors. The “mobile lab” built in the Gallery Walk of the Sote Virtual Lab presented the project work and teaching carried out in the Sote Virtual Lab using a vibroacoustic bean bag chair, a sleep robot and a wireless rhythm monitoring device. The Sote Virtual Lab was also accessible virtually using VR glasses. Visitors threw themselves into trying out the bean bag chair and the sleep robot, and AR and VR glasses were in frequent use. Many inspiring contacts were made during the Gallery Walk, and new collaborations are expected!

The conference was organized in collaboration with the Finnish Telemedicine and e-Health Society, Tampere University and the Pirkanmaa Welfare Region. The theme of the conference was “From Research to Impact on Digital Health and Welfare Services”. The speakers were international top experts in the field, with topics such as “Current and Future Impacts of AI on Health Care” or “How can we study the evidence of digital health solutions?”.

Next year’s conference will be already the 30th. We hope that TAMK and Sote Virtual Lab will be there to celebrate the conference’s anniversary.
