CoreLab is an innovation platform that promotes innovation in the built environment by bringing together traditional companies, municipalities, startups, and university students.

WHAT? CoreLab is a co-creation platform for the built environment that fosters the creation of new collaborative networks, innovations, and business opportunities. CoreLab connects industry companies, startups, research, and students.

MISSION: CoreLab aims to renew innovation in the real estate and construction sector and create conditions for the emergence of new innovations, startups, and business ventures. We support interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the Tampere University community.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES: CoreLab’s operating principles include open innovation, collaborative networks, cross-industry collaboration, lightweight participation, and a culture of experimentation. We strive to promote the development of a new, more open, lightweight, and agile innovation culture in the real estate and construction industry.

Societal Impact

CoreLab fulfills the university’s third mission by actively participating in public discourse and disseminating researched information to the general public in an understandable format.

The implementation models of urban development projects (CityCen)

CityCen is a research project that develops models for the implementation of large urban development sites through cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Future Senior Housing (TULE)

2023–2025

TULE studies senior housing models, services and future destination focusing on intermediate housing.

The Future Forum for Real Estate Development (FutuRED)

The FutuRED is a network that identifies future trends affecting the development of the real estate industry, considers the new opportunities they offer for relevant operators, and jointly develops future solutions for the industry.
