FabLab continues to grow

The year 2024 was a record-breaking year for the FabLab on the Hervanta campus. The year included close collaboration with almost 30 university courses and 50 research projects.

There were almost 6,000 machine reservations, a 25% increase from the previous year. FabLab had an estimated 12,000 visitors last year.

The most popular devices were again 3D printers and laser cutters, with a usage rate of 70 percent. The next place went to the new device, embroidery machine. This year, the embroidery machine will probably be challenged by the new textile printer (DTG/DTF), which allows you to easily print on t-shirts, for example.

FabLab is currently located in the preliminary premises in Rakennustalo, in room RJ 110. The location has brought more and more architecture students to do scale models in the FabLab.

We will return to the renovated Sähkötalo in the fall of 2025. In addition to our familiar services you will find from the reneved space, among others, a spray painting room, a new wood working workshop and an SLA printing room! SLA 3D printing training will also return to the calendar next fall.
