FabLab was open most of the autumn season, when in FabLab worked mainly on study and research projects. Based on the survey, students feel that FabLab will help them study and find employment in the future. The role of FabLab in assisting research was also felt to be significant.

A customer feedback survey was sent to those who worked at FabLab during the autumn season. A total of 74 people responded to the survey. Thanks to everyone who responded! About 40% of respondents worked at FabLab for the first time last autumn. As in previous periods, FabLab’s most popular devices are 3D printers and laser cutters. Hand tools were also widely used in FabLab.

Based on the feedback received, customers are very satisfied with FabLab and it received the best ratings in its history. Almost everyone who responded to the feedback will continue to use FabLab’s equipment and services also in the future. Our customers were also very satisfied with our customer service.

Learning by Doing infos and other special events were requested in the survey. Events will return to our calendars as soon as it is safe to organize them.

We received also open feedback, which we have gone through carefully in our team. We will take several ideas from your feedback for clarification.

Below are some questions raised in the survey:

– The booking calendar is difficult to use. Each device must be clicked individually. This does not make sense, for example, when looking for a free 3D printer.

  • You can also search for free times for devices with the “Refine Search” function on the right side of the booking calendar. Refine search allows you to search for devices that are currently available or search for available devices on a specific day and time.

– A painting point would be a nice addition to FabLab’s services.

  • Unfortunately, FabLab’s facilities are not suitable for painting. Painting would require a separate fume cupboard in the space to meet the health requirements associated with ventilation.

– The SLA printer was requested in several feedbacks.

  • We are mapping out SLA printers and their security requirements. Based on the study, we make a decision on whether the printer is suitable for our premises.

– Improvements were hoped for the mobile environment of the website

  • FabLab’s website is made on the university’s website. The development of the functionalities of the websites is carried out continuously.

– Various wishes related to the instructions for use of the devices

  • Instructions for using our devices can be found on each device’s own subpage. The pages mainly contain FabLab’s own instructions as well as the device manufacturer’s videos and instructions. We make updates to device sites during the winter to improve clarity and accessibility.
