Open educational practices (OEP) make teaching and learning transparent, shareable and adaptable. They broaden the concept of openness to not only include open educational resources but also teaching and learning processes.
OEP include, for example, the sharing of materials related to the design and delivery of teaching, the co-development of teaching with colleagues and students, and the involvement of students in the planning of their learning pathways. Openly accessible online courses and other forms of open learning are further examples of OEP.
OEP support pedagogical development, promote peer learning and foster a sense of community. They enhance the impact of teaching and facilitate the dissemination of effective practices across organisational and disciplinary boundaries.
