Why choose open education?

Open education promotes educational equity and equality by providing wider access to learning opportunities, regardless of time, place or background. It supports lifelong learning and responds to the evolving skills needs of our society.

For teaching staff, open education offers opportunities to develop their teaching, share materials and foster pedagogical innovation. Openness reduces the duplication of effort and increases the visibility and impact of teaching. The development of open education can also be recognised as contributing to enhanced teaching quality and the accumulation of academic merit.

From the perspective of Tampere Universities, open education strengthens societal engagement, facilitates the wider use of knowledge and promotes collaboration between different stakeholders. It supports responsible and sustainable educational practices as part of open science.
