The legal form of Tampere University is a foundation. In accordance with the Universities Act, the governing bodies of the University are the Board, President, Academic Board and Faculty Councils.
The University also has other preparatory and advisory bodies as well as the organisation and administration for arranging education, research and support services. The stipulations concerning them are included in the University Regulations and other rules and guidelines.

Tampere University Foundation sr and Group
The mission of Tampere University Foundation sr is to act on a long-term basis for the benefit of the well-being and competitiveness of Finnish society, humanity and the environment with the means of high-quality, international research and education. Tampere University Foundation sr began operating as Tampere University in January 2019.
The subsidiaries of Tampere University Foundation sr are Tampere University of Applied Sciences Oy (ownership 87 %), Campusta Oy (100 %), which produces facilities services, and Radio Moreeni Oy (100 %). Tampere University Foundation has a participating interest in the affiliated companies Finnish Vaccine Research Finvac Oy (49%), Tuotekehitys Oy Tamlink (24.8%) and Funidata Oy (22.4%). The Foundation also has other significant ownerships in University Properties of Finland Ltd (14.4%) and Certia Oy (13.8%).
