Working life needs are shaping education

TAMK’s Continuing Education had a fast-paced and successful year. New openings of the year were an international trainer education for a big Finnish manufacturer, industrial sales education with Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s industrial committee and an executive assistant education.

The winds of change blew for labour policy education in the creative field. We supported the growing AV industry in the city of Tampere with the location manager and streaming and project management educations. It strengthened our cooperation with Film Tampere, Tampere Hall, Nokia Arena and other AV enterprises in Tampere as well as the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.

In the field of social and health care, the most significant education openings were the revised Psychophysical Physiotherapy and Clinical Ultrasound for Nursing.

In spring 2022, we launched TAMK’s three-step business partnership model based on enterprises’ wishes. The model makes it possible to build cooperation around a cooperation partnership, expertise partnership and strategic partnership.

Provision of open studies expanded

TAMK Open UAS’ online education provision expanded when we started to support schools and teachers in production of online material. The growth will continue this year when the new online courses begin.

Time and place independent studies serve many open UAS customer groups and TAMK’s degree students. In addition to individual courses, all first-year business administration studies can now be completed online.

Online courses which can be completed at your own pace are very good. Topics were discussed deeply and online lectures were intensive, participatory and inspiring. Lecture recordings were also excellent. – Feedback from students of Open UAS

As many other higher education institutions, TAMK offers Ukrainian war refugees English-language open UAS studies free of charge.

The year 2022 culminated in the open higher education days organised by TAMK and Tampere University in November. This event is an annual network meeting of higher education institutions and other open higher education providers in Finland. It focuses on topical continuous learning issues.

Specialisation studies are a form of continuing education, supported by the Finnish Government. In 2022 TAMK offered both its own education as well as education organised in cooperation with several other higher education institutions. The new English VFX Artist for Audiovisual Productions specialisation studies started in autumn 2022 and responded to the growing need for AV professionals. The studies are implemented in cooperation with Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and cooperation with enterprises in the field ensures education contents which respond to working life needs.
