Innovative and active year paid off
TAMK had an active RDI year in 2022. We made many new and innovative openings in our diverse competence fields and achieved strategically important successes. Tampere University of Applied Sciences implemented new project openings on a broad front.
Some examples of our cross-cutting projects in different competence fields are
- Sustainable brain health
- Sustainable fit-for-purpose nonwoven (SUSTAFIT)
- Building a competitive edge in a fair data economy for higher education: FairDatAct (English content available soon)
- Academy for Sustainable Future Educators (EduSTA)
Project preparers, cooperation partners and implementers deserve a big thank you for their good work. Our external funding is growing, which can be seen for example in the above-mentioned cross-cutting projects made in cooperation with enterprises.
We update ourselves and enterprises with the latest information. Participation in projects enriches our thinking. We experience what we can start to apply. – Markus Nikka, Technical Sales Specialist, Dekati Oy
Tampere University of Applied Sciences aims at solving large and wicked problems for the benefit of the entire humankind.
They are easily approachable and practical. They understand that enterprises’ technological knowledge and skills vary. The higher education institutions’ specialists can explain matters clearly. – Piia Kallioinen, Head of Marketing, Artome Oy
As regards business operations, 2022 was a year of growth. Education export increased significantly, up to 130% compared to the year before. Interesting new openings in Finnish continuing education were the location manager education for creative fields and professional drone user trainings which were both very popular.
We promoted HUBS entrepreneurship education through sustainable entrepreneurship studies and grants, which were given to seven applicants in the TAMK community.
The Regional Higher Education Network expanded to the town of Akaa. In the new three-year period (2023–2025), we will thus have five partners in the Tampere Region: Akaa, Virrat-Ruovesi, Ikaalinen-Parkano-Hämeenkyrö-Kihniö, Mänttä-Vilppula and Sastamala.
The RDI project volume was €7 million and business sales €5,8 million. The total number of publications was approximately 600 in 2022. As a whole, the results of the year were quite good with extensive regional, national and international impact.
In addition to international projects and business operations, we promoted internationality with our strategic partners, especially through the European academic alliance UniNovis. Related preparations will continue in 2023. The objective is to become a member of the European higher education network to have a wider impact in the future.
