You may encounter a situation where you cannot get by on your own or with the help from your loved ones. That is the time to get help from social safety nets. Where you should turn first depends on your situation. Salaried workers can use occupational health services. Support is also available from entrepreneurs’ associations (e.g. Suomen Yrittäjät) and their local groups. People belonging to these organisations can seek help from their experts. If entrepreneurs have arranged occupational health services for themselves, they can start seeking help from there. Otherwise, you can contact your local municipal health services.
Students at universities and universities of applied sciences are entitled to use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS). This should be their first place to contact. Higher education institutions also have a student counselling system with academic/teacher tutors, student counsellors or corresponding staff with other titles. You can also ask them for help.
Completely exhausted, burned-out and depressed people do not have the strength to seek help. Never let the situation go that far.
