In 2020, 17% of our full-time staff’s person-years (126 PYs) were used for research, development and innovation. In accordance with our strategy, TAMK’s core operations, namely education and RDI, will be connected closer to one another.

In three years, the RDI project portfolio value rose by about 60% from over €10 million to almost €17 million. In spring 2021, we have about 100 ongoing projects in cooperation with companies, higher education institutions, research institutes and the public sector.

The largest RDI financiers are the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF). TAMK staff have cooperated on Erasmus+ RDI projects with approximately 150 international partners from 42 countries.

The new incentive system in 2020 motivated TAMK staff and raised the number of publications into a new record, 660 publications. The growth compared to the previous year was 76%. Especially the main TAMK blogs offered attractive platforms for TAMK publications.

Impact

TAMK's impact in Pirkanmaa and elsewhere.

TAMK’s impact is generated in education and stakeholder cooperation. In addition to higher education, universities of applied sciences practise applied research, development and innovation as well as artistic activities to promote regional development and regenerate the regional economic structure. TAMK has a strong impact in Tampere Region but also nationally and internationally.
