History
History of the Nordic Network for Company Law
The founding father of the group is the late professor Paul Krüger Andersen, who originally invited scholars from the four Nordic countries to Århus in summer 1995 in order to discuss the need of closer cooperation. There the founding members decided to gather soon again for more discussions and decided to meet in Turku (Finland), where the original agreement was signed. The group’s original name was Selskabsretsgruppen. Paul Krüger Andersen was later awarded the title Doctor Honorum Causa by the Turku School of Economics for his work in establishing the Nordic company law network.
The Nordic Network for Company Law was established at a meeting held in Åbo (Turku) on 6 November 1995.
According to the original contract:
The object of the Nordic Network for Company Law was to establish and develop a Nordic research-based forum of information in respect of company law issues and the presentation and debate hereof. The Network will endeavour to promote Nordic co-operation within company law, seeking thereby to influence developments within company law research both on a national, a Nordic, and a European level.
