The access control system in the Virta building on the City Centre Campus is being renewed, which will affect the access procedures to the electronic exam room Virta 123 starting from 1 October 2025. The change concerns students of both Tampere University and TAMK who are taking or planning to take electronic exams in the Virta 123 exam room.
As part of the access control system renewal in the Virta building, Tampere University has decided to pilot a new access procedure in the Virta 123 exam room. The exam room will be closed throughout September and will reopen to students on 1 October 2025. At the same time, a new access procedure will be introduced:
- The door to the Virta 123 exam room will be open for 20 minutes on the hour: it opens 5 minutes before the hour and closes 15 minutes past.
- This means students must arrive on time for their exam booking. Entry to the exam room will no longer require identification with a student card or access card.
- If a student arrives more than 15 minutes late for their exam booking, they must wait until the door opens again or reschedule their exam. The Virta building’s info desk will not open the exam room door for students arriving late.
The instructions for electronic exams will be updated to reflect the new access procedure in the Virta 123 exam room.
The change will not affect the supervision of exams in Virta 123. Real-time and recording audio and video surveillance will continue to be used, along with inspection rounds in the exam rooms. In addition, students will continue to identify themselves in the usual way by logging into the TUNI EXAM system with their TUNI credentials on the exam computer.
Tampere University is renewing access control systems gradually, building by building, across all Tampere campuses by the end of 2028. The latest news on the access control system renewal at the City Centre Campus, specifically in the Virta building, was published on the intranet on 9 September 2025.
