The new group exercise season starts on Monday, August 24th – featuring energizing classes for all fitness levels!

New group exercise season

The group exercise classes for the autumn season (24 August to 13 December 2026) have now been published. You can view the classes in the Selection Calendar on the SportUni website. Alongside familiar favourites, the season will also feature some exciting new classes.

Group Exercise Gets a New Classification System

Starting from 24 August, SportUni will introduce a new classification system for group exercise classes. Classes will be divided into four colour-coded categories based on their type. In addition, each class description will include information about the choreography level and physical intensity of the class. The aim of the new classification system is to make the timetable view clearer and help participants find suitable classes more easily.
Class Categories

Dance
(Light Pink) = Dance-based classes

Power&Energy
(Purple) = Comprehensive cardio and strength classes

Spinning
(Green) = Indoor cycling classes

Wellness
(Yellow) = Body & Mind classes

Each class description will also indicate the choreography level (0-3) and physical intensity (*-***).

Choreography Level

0 = No choreography
1 = Easy
2 = Intermediate
3 = Challenging

Physical Intensity

* = Low
** = Moderate
*** = High

Something for Everyone

This autumn’s new classes include Start, TuniRox, and PowerPilates.

The Start class (Atalpa, Thursdays at 4:15 PM) offers a safe, relaxed, and pressure-free introduction to group exercise. The class is designed for first-time participants and anyone looking to build confidence in attending group exercise classes. With clear and practical guidance, you will learn what happens during a typical class and how classes progress. You will also become familiar with common equipment and movements used in group exercise. No previous experience or special fitness level is required. Just come as you are.

TuniRox (Atalpa, Thursdays at 5:15 PM) is an effective and versatile class that combines endurance training with functional strength training. The class is inspired by elements of HYROX training but has been adapted to suit SportUni’s group exercise offering. Come and give this exciting new class a try!
PowerPilates (Kauppi, Wednesdays at 8:00 AM, also available via LiveStream) features dynamic and effective exercises from the classical Pilates repertoire. In addition to bodyweight exercises, classes utilise small equipment such as light dumbbells, exercise balls, and resistance bands.
Alongside these new classes, all familiar SportUni favourites will continue this autumn. Popular dance classes and spinning classes, for example, are widely available throughout the week.

Come and Give It a Try

Explore the autumn group exercise programme in the Selection Calendar and join us. Some classes at the Kauppi Sports Centre are livestreamed. Classes marked with LS can alternatively be attended remotely via Zoom. Registration for all group exercise classes (excluding remote participation in LS classes) takes place through the Selection Calendar.
Classes are held in the group exercise rooms of SportUni sports centres unless otherwise stated. All necessary equipment is provided on site. All group exercise classes start according to the published schedule and finish five minutes before the scheduled end time to allow participants to move smoothly to the next class. Please make sure to arrive on time! We also recommend familiarising yourself with our registration policies and group exercise etiquette before attending.
You can participate in group exercise classes without restrictions by paying the SportUni sports fee. Single-visit payments are also available.
If you would like to try different classes free of charge, you can do so during our Open House Weeks from 24 August to 6 September by presenting a valid student card, student certificate, or staff card at the reception. Outside the Open House Weeks, you can also try group exercise classes using the trial coupons included in the printed TREY Academic Year Calendar or the TAMKO Tursaspassi.
And there’s no need to wait until autumn. Our summer group exercise classes continue until Sunday, 23 August. Whether you’re a newcomer or a long-time participant, you’re warmly welcome!
