Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences support their students who participate in major student sport competitions. These are Universiades, World University Championships, European Universities Championships and EUSA Games. Competitions are internationally highly respected and there are many young athletes participating who are on their way to world top of their sport. Good example of popularity is for example Naples 2019 Summer Universiade’s which gathered 6 000 athletes from over one hundred countries to compete in eighteen different sports.
