Sustainable Development at SportUni

Sustainable Development and SportUni poster

SportUni promotes sustainable development as part of the Tampere Universities community, in line with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In spring 2025, SportUni conducted a review of the sustainability measures and goals related to its sports centres and their practical operations. The results of this review are now published on SportUni’s website.

SportUni’s sustainability actions are categorized into social, environmental, and economic dimensions, following the Agenda 2030 framework. The evaluation and goal-setting process has utilized the ESG traffic light model, which uses traffic light colors to illustrate the current status of each action. These actions are reviewed and updated regularly.

Current sustainable development actions at SportUni include:

  • Following the principles of a safer space
  • Bilingual communication and marketing
  • Automatic timers for lights and saunas
  • Reusing lost and founds
  • Ensuring the longevity of sports equipment

Visit SportUni’s website to learn more about how we promote an ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable sports culture.
