The access control system will be replaced in Atalpa building on Friday 22 August. After the switch, existing access cards will no longer work in the Atalpa building.
If you have paid SportUni’s sport fee, you have received instructions to your tuni.fi email address. This email will be sent from the address stidmobile-id@stid.com or noreply@stidmobile-id.com. The email will instruct sport centre users to download the STid Mobile ID mobile app to their smartphones and then activate the new virtual access card through this app. This method is the preferred option for students to obtain access rights. The email will be sent approximately 24 hours after the sports fee is paid.
If you are unable to start using the virtual access card, you can collect a new physical access card at SportUni’s customer service desk, which is located on the ground floor of the Atalpa building.
Staff members can either begin using the virtual access card or collect a new employee ID card (which includes access rights to authorised areas) from the information desk in the Main Building (Päätalo) on the city centre campus.
Staff at the upper secondary school of Tampere University Teacher Training School will receive separate instructions regarding access to their facilities.
Gradual rollout of the new access control system across campuses
During the transition period, users will need to use a new access card to access Atalpa and continue using their old access card to access other campus buildings.
Tampere University will gradually implement a new access control system across all campuses by the end of 2028. The project began in late 2024 at the Nekala unit of the Teacher Training School. On the city centre campus, the rollout will begin with Atalpa and then continue to Virta, Linna, Pinni B and the Main Building. After the city centre campus, the project will move to the Kauppi campus and finally to the Hervanta campus. The new system will also be in place at the new SportUni Hippos gym when it opens in Aug-Sep 2025. Preparations have also been made for Tampere University of Applied Sciences to adopt the same system in a few years’ time.
