SportUni Kauppi and Hervanta have climbing walls available. Climbing is free for SportUni members and external students or staff can climb for a one-time fee (7€). Access to the walls and equipment rental is allowed for person who have a belay card. There is no need to reserve the climbing walls in advance.
At the Kauppi climbing wall, open climbing sessions are held once a month during the spring and autumn seasons. These sessions are supervised, and you don’t need a belay card or prior climbing experience to participate. No registration is needed; participants can join on a drop-in basis. To attend an open session, a SportUni sports fee or a one-time fee must be paid. The last open climbing sessions of the spring season 2025 will be held on Wednesday, March 26, and April 9, from 15:00 to 16:45.
In addition to open sessions, SportUni offers climbing courses in Kauppi during the autumn and spring seasons. Completing these courses provides the necessary skills to obtain a belay card and climb independently on SportUni’s climbing walls.
At Hervanta SportUni, climbing activities are managed by climbing club Tekiila.
Tekiila organizes open climbing sessions during the 2025 academic year on Wednesdays from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Tamppi Arena climbing wall. Anyone who has a membership or has paid a one-time fee for SportUni’s sports services and is interested in climbing can participate. Tekiila instructors assist with climbing and finding suitable equipment.
On Tekiila’s member sessions, held on Mondays and Fridays from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, informal climbing is available at the Tamppi Arena. These sessions are intended for climbers with independent climbing skills who want to find climbing partners. Additionally, Tekiila organizes beginners’ and lead courses throughout the year based on demand. Courses can be continuously registered for via Tekiila’s website.
