Registration and cancellation
You can participate in group exercise classes according to your own schedule, as long as you always remember to register in advance from the Selection Calendar. Registration is needed in each class and requires Tuni identification. The registration for the classes opens the day before the given class at 7 am. You can register until the beginning of the class. Your registration appears on your SportUni “My page”, where you can also cancel it. The cancellation must be done at least 2 hours before the start of the class. The deadline for canceling is two hours, so that the people on the waiting list still has time to react to a vacant place. A 14-day booking block will be applied for unused bookings, if the booking is not cancelled 2 hours before. The booking block can be removed before 14 days only by paying a 5€ reactivation fee at the Sport Centre’s customer service desk. If the class is fully booked, you can register for the waitlist. Each class has 20 substitute places. You will receive a notification in your e-mail no later than 2 hours before the start of the class, if a place has become available for you. Registration for the waitlist must also be canceled no later than 2 hours before the start of the class if you are unable to attend. In case of cancellation or a change of the class, the information will be sent by e-mail to those who have registered for the class and also to the group exercise mailing list that you can join. The information will also be updated to Selection calendar.
LiveStream classes
“LS” marked classes in Kauppi are LiveStream classes to which you can either participate live in SportUni Kauppi or online. Register for those classes only if you come to the sport centre. You do not need to register for the class if you are participating online. You can participate online via the Zoom link on the Selection calendar. The link is available only to those who have paid the SportUni fee and are logged in with their Tuni id. In the mobile version of the selection calendar, the Zoom link is only visible until the start of the class, but through the browser version, you can also join the class after the class has started.
Class types and class descriptions
The group exercise classes are divided into three color categories according to the class type: green=aerobic classes=sweat and endurance, blue=muscle fitness classes= comprehensive and effective muscle fitness training, pink=body care classes=balance of the body and mind. Please note that the classifications are indicative, and many classes combine e.g. aerobic and muscle fitness training or muscle fitness training and body care. Additionally, some classes are marked with a star* meaning that we recommend those also for beginners. Familiarize yourself with the class descriptions and give different classes a try, and you will surely find the one that suits you. The language(s) in which the class is mainly instructed is also marked in the class information. However, Finnish may be used instead of English, if all participants understand it.
Place and equipment
Classes are held in the group exercise rooms if not marked otherwise. All equipment needed for the classes can be found in group exercise rooms, but you can bring your own yoga/fitness mat if you wish. You also find supplies for cleaning the equipment. Dress in clothes that feels convenient and wear indoor shoes intended for exercise. Not all classes (e.g. body care classes) necessarily require shoes. Take a drinking bottle with you and maybe a sweat towel. Leave your mobile phone and other items in the locker in the locker room. At the end of the class, return the equipment you used tidily back to the storage.
Timetable
Each group exercise class starts according to the schedule and ends about 5 minutes before the scheduled time, leaving a transition time for the next class. A group exercise class is always a pre-planned entity, so it is appropriate to participate in the class from the beginning to the end. You cannot arrive late to a class. Arriving late creates a safety risk, especially during classes where equipment is used and disturbs the concentration of the instructor and other participants.
Feedback
You can give feedback and ask questions directly to the instructor before or after the class, taking into account the start and end times of the classes. We are also happy to receive feedback via the feedback form on SportUni’s website.
