How can we bring more movement, activity, and wellbeing into the study day without compromising learning outcomes? A new TUNI Intra site now brings together practical ideas, resources, and inspiration in one place.

The Movement and Activation in Teaching site has been created to support teachers and other staff members in promoting students’ wellbeing, engagement, and learning. The site offers easy-to-use methods, research-based information, and concrete examples of how movement and activation can be incorporated into different teaching and learning situations.

The site supports the goals of Finland’s Students on the move (Liikkuva opiskelu) programme, which aims to increase physical activity and strengthen students’ study ability in upper secondary education and higher education. The programme promotes active learning environments, functional teaching methods, activity breaks, and reduced sedentary behaviour during the study day. Research shows that increasing movement can support concentration, learning, wellbeing, and a sense of community.

On the intra site, you will find:

  • Practical tips for active teaching methods
  • Short activity and break exercises
  • Research on the connections between movement, learning, and wellbeing
  • Examples and ideas for higher education teaching
  • Materials and resources to support your work

Even small changes can have a significant impact on students’ concentration, energy levels, participation, and overall wellbeing. Creating more active learning environments is a shared opportunity to support student success and a positive study experience.

Explore the new Movement and Activation in Teaching site and discover new ways to make learning more active, engaging, and wellbeing-oriented. Check out also TLC-Teaching and learning Centre-website and Movement as part of teaching-site.
